Women's All-Age Division 1 - Title Race Run-in

Three teams can still win the Women’s All-Age Division 1 as we enter the final weeks, who will come out on top?

North Sydney – 12 games played, 30 points, 30+ goal difference

Final matches: Lindfield A (A), Lane Cove (H), Northbridge (A)

The current leaders of the table had won six consecutive matches before last weekend, but were brought crashing back to earth in a 4-0 loss to Northbridge. However, Adam Farsi’s side still control their own fate – win their final three matches and they will end the season as champions.

There are no easy fixtures remaining though, Lane Cove have already defeated the red and blacks once this season, securing a 2-1 win at Blackman in round six, while both clashes with Lindfield A have been decided by small margins.

Should North Sydney come through those two matches with maximum points, a final day blockbuster looms against Northbridge on August 18th.

Northbridge – 11 games played, 27 points, 32+ goal difference

Final matches: Lane Cove (H), Lindfield A (H), Gordon (H), North Sydney (H)

After spending the last month playing away fixtures Northbridge return home for their final four matches and will no doubt be hoping home advantage sees them through to a third successive title.

The round 17 clash with Lindfield looms as a crunch fixture, having suffered a 2-1 defeat at Charles Bean Oval at the beginning of the month.

Sunday’s win over North Sydney has also put the reigning champions ahead on goal difference – with an extra match against Gordon as well, a draw in the final round at Northbridge Oval could be enough to secure top spot.

Lindfield A – 13 games played, 26 points, 27+ goal difference

Final matches: North Sydney (H), Northbridge (A)

Still a mathematical chance of the title, Lindfield A take on both members of the top two in their final matches of the season. Winning both of those matches would take the team in navy to 32 points, and would then require North Sydney and Northbridge to take at most two and five points respectively from their remaining fixtures. Goal difference would then be the deciding factor if multiple teams finish level on points, followed by goals scored.

If results fall perfectly, the final fixture of the season, Northbridge vs North Sydney at Northbridge Oval, could have all three teams still in contention for the title!
