Clean up Australia at PDYC great success!

by Peter Sluce

Port Dalrymple’s contribution to the Nation wide clean up Australia Day, was a great success, with twenty members assisting in the clean-up of the Bell Bay shoreline. Point Effingham, Middle Island and Shag point all got collection crews, with around 30 bags of rubbish collected, thanks to West Tamar Council for their support, in collection the bagged rubbish from the club.

What was collected was interesting, with a lot of plastic bottles collected, along with cans and plastic bags, bait bags and small sections of rope.

It was hard to tell but most of the rubbish collected seemed fairly old, with the bulk well above the high tide line, it will be very interesting to revisit the areas in 12 months’ time to see how much collects in the bay over 12 months.

Thanks to Rear Commodore Glen Cornish, for this initiative and all the Members that assisted in cleaning up our playing surface.
