New Year’s Eve 2017 at RANSA was another great event with over 400 people visiting and enjoying the night at RANSA (we ran out of wrist tags). I spoke to several people from various parts of Australia & the world (several from the UK) who were guests of members. We even had a contingent of Venturer Scouts (15 to 17 year olds) and their leaders from Manchester, UK enjoying RANSA’s hospitality for the evening. They were in Sydney enroute to a Scouting Venture in Brisbane and they enjoyed RANSA’s great atmosphere for the evening and eight youth members went on SYLVARA to get up close and personal for the 2100 fireworks display.
We also raised over $800.00 for the Sir David Martin foundation with our incentive of $20.00 per table. This money will go towards youth less fortunate than us and I thank those who dug deep and donated more than the $20.00 table levy.
Last but not least, a big Thank You to all of those members who worked the bar for everyone to enjoy and the Rear commodore has indicated you all had a great night as there is no bubbly or Rose left. Remember, RANSA’s success is your ability to give up some personal time so we can all enjoy great functions as NYE. I want to personally thank Jean & Peter Crozier who stayed and made sure the Bar was Ship shape at some ungodly hour. Also Doug & the House Committee who pulled the evening together so you could all enjoy the evening.
All the best for 2018 and I look forward to catching up with you all at some time during the year.
