RANSA Displaying The White Ensign

by Adrian Gruzman

I am very pleased to advise that RANSA has been accorded, by the Chief of Navy, Vice Admiral Tim Barrett AO CSC RAN, the privilege of displaying the Australian White Ensign at our Rushcutters Bay Facilities, and in RANSA owned watercraft when located in internal Australian waters. This privilege is a great step forward in demonstrating the ongoing relationship between RAN, and RANSA whose main object is to encourage sailing throughout the Navy.

This great honour will be celebrated by a ceremonial hoisting of the Australian White Ensign at RANSA on a date to be confirmed, but in the Summer Season.

In the meantime, I would like to extend a call for help to all of our members in assisting to provide an appropriate truck for the flagstaff for RANSA One.

Our consultant vexillologist, John Vaughan, has advised that the AWE, for RANSA One, be a one and a half yard flag on a tapered 4 foot (1220mm) teak flagstaff, with a Naval Crown truck.

That brings me to the request. A Naval Crown truck is not available off the shelf, and my thought is that some one or more of our members will have the skill and equipment to 3D print such an item. I envisage that it would be about 80-100mm in diameter.

If you can assist, I would be grateful if you could communicate with me directly atAdrian@Gruzman.com.au, copy to office@ransa.com.au. Subject line: RANSA - Australian White Ensign.
