Updated Venue Hire Guidelines

by RANSA Office

RANSA now has published updated Venue and Function Hire Guidelines and has implemented an improved booking process for Members wishing to use the RANSA facilities for private functions, large, small, formal or informal.

Members have asked for improved visibility of availability of RANSA as a private venue and the associated function booking process. Additionally, we have been working with Woollahra Council to ensure they are aware of our private function hire guidelines so we comply with our lease terms and also avoid any potential disputes or unnecessary complaints from local residents.

The good news, fees have not gone up, plus a new optional priority booking for a casual BQQ/Deck function is now available. All approved functions will be listed on the RANSA web site calendar to avoid conflicts.

A new category of venue hire has been introduced based on feedback from Members which caters for the casual BBQ & Deck hire for the afternoon BYO BBQ, birthday or similar events. For only $50 you can now book and have priority visibility of your event. You can still choose not to book and just use the facilities without charge on a shared basis by using your Members Key, as is the case now. This booking type has been introduced to avoid the situation where multiple Members unintentionally end up having “competing” events as there was no visibility of the intended Club use.

While not compulsory, it is recommended for casual BBQ type functions for 10+ people Members use this new venue hire category. Therefore, conversely if you turn up expecting to have the venue to yourself on that day about the same time with without booking, please be aware the booked event has priority to the BBQ or Deck for their event. RANSA is there to be used and shared by its Members, so if in doubt polite courtesy by understanding the Guidelines takes precedence.

Members wishing to book a function should download the new Guidelines, check the RANSA web site calendar for availability, and then contact the Office to discuss your requirements. The Office will want to know the date, proposed start and end times, type of function, and anticipated number of people. Once any venue hire fees &/or bond paid and the Guidelines Form has been signed your event will be approved, and the event date published anonymously on the RANSA web site. ie Private Function Wedding or Private Function Casual BBQ

The Club facilities are there to be used by its Members as a benefit of Membership. We hope the improved booking process will make it easier for you to enjoy RANSA beyond the on water activities.
