Notes from Management Committee Meeting


Meeting Date: Wednesday 19th April 2017              Time:  6:00pm to 7.30pm

Present:  Stephen (Chair), Adam, Nick, Maxine, Colin, Karen (minutes). Confirmation of quorum


Matters arising from previous minutes




  1. 1.       Mooring Allocations

a. Auriel

Auriel owners to relocate from mooring within the next week.


  1. 2.       Application for extra moornings

Nick has submitted an application and will follow up. WYC can only have one application in at a time. Plan to submit another application once the current one has been processed.

  1. 3.       Noticeboard

Stephen will order this on 30th April. It is an outdoor lockable noticeboard, 900mm x 600mm, costing $318. It will be located near the shower window on the outside of the building.

  1. 4.       Trim motor

The motor is still temperamental and needs replacing. John Somerset has been fixing it. Chris sent through a $500 8HP diesel engine for sale on eBay. Adam will investigate this option and potentially make an offer of $350. If this engine is not suitable, WYC to continue looking at options for a suitable engine.

  1. 5.       Slipway Progress

Martin from Crown Lands is putting out an EOI for 5 years. Crown Lands will provide some funding towards fixing up the site. The EOI should be released in the near future.

  1. 6.       Items for AGM

a. AGM to be held on 5th May.

b. Karen has updated the notification, and Stephen will distribute to members.

c. Fees will remain the same for the next year.

d. Karen will collect nominations for committee. Stephen, Maxine, Colin and Adam will nominate as committee members. Karen and Nick will not. Bob Cooper has nominated to join.




  1. 7.       Actions from Planning Day

a. Survey of members and potential members

b. Encourage dormant yachts to move or participate

c. Apply for extra mooring in harbor and berth in basin

d. Increase participation over the next 3 years

e. Establish container café

Stephen met with Wollongong Lord Mayor who was supportive of café. Destination Wollongong is also supportive, as is Wollongong Council representatives. Investigations of requirements of a DA are underway. A review of environmental factors (REF) may suffice. Council is investigating if the old Diggies container café is available for WYC to use. A commercial kitchen is preferable for the café.

Gotham has had some set backs with the café e.g. broken fridge, coffee machine & water main issues. He would like to expand business, and would like a contract to have certainty for business purposes. WYC cannot provide a contract until DA  and appropriate licencing (possible small bar licence) requirements are known.

f. Publicity person to be nominated

g. Signage, banners and phone number to promote club

h. Distribution of committee minutes to members


New Items on Notice for Discussion – General Business




  1. 1.       Financials

Stephen provided the financial documentation to committee.

  1. 2.       Pontoon Floats

Doug is asking $3000 for 6 commercial pontoon pieces (2m x 1.2m each). WYC needs to determine if they are suitable for club use, how they would be moved and fitted etc

  1. 3.       Skippers meeting

To be held on either Friday 16th or 23rd June 2017.
