NSW Championships 2016 - Results

by Peter Robinson

The NSW OK State Championship was run at the Drummoyne Sailing Club on the weekend of 3-4 December with fourteen entrants from NSW, Queensland and South Australia competing.

Drummoyne is the venue for the 2016-17 Australian Championships and the States provided an ideal test for the courses, race management and facilities that will be used in January. The conditions for both days were light and predominately Easterly winds.

The courses in these conditions delivered the desired target times of 50-60 minutes per race and plenty to challenge sailors of all abilities.

Local sailor, Peter Horne, made the most of the racing with four wins across the six races to become this season's State Champion. Mark Skelton from Wangi also had a race win and consistent results with 2nd overall and Peter Robinson with the remaining race win a third place.

We had three new OK sailors join the fleet - Phil Barnett in AUS680, Andrew Stephenson in AUS693 (as "75") and James Pagett as a Junior, sailing Cracker's second OK.

Sanor Tornai, as PRO, ran six very good races in variable conditions. His team of race committee and support boats did a great job and made the racing very enjoyable - thanks!
