This week is the last for the Sandy Bay Sailing Club's 2015/16 season,  and it looks like being a good day for sailing. There is a lot happening again with  Tackers, Grommets, Forward hand & parent fun races, the final DSS pennant races in the afternoon, gear swap/sale of lost property as well as the Laser training weekend. Old Buffers and Forward Hand Races will be at 11:00am so make sure your boats are rigged early kids.

This week is the last Saturday for Tackers . Short presentation and information session will be given Tackers 1 - 10am and Tackers 2 11.30am.

I would like to thanks everyone for their efforts this year, it has been a real pleasure to have been involved in a club where everyone pitches in and helps and I know all of the sailors appreciate your efforts.

So while it is the club's last official weekend of the summer calendar, next weekend is the Schools Teams Racing at Sandy Bay for those involved, We have the new April holiday and Winter training program commencing (See Lizzi's corner below for details), teams are training for the Cadet Worlds, International Optimist Australian Representative events, and a couple crews are headed to the 29er Worlds. We really never stop...

After sailing this week there will be a free BBQ on the lawn (with ice creams and an EASTER EGG HUNT for kids), so please take the time and join us in celebrating the end of the SBSC summer sailing season. BBQ at ~4:30pm.

SBSC Boat Storage

As members of SBSC we are all aware that boat storage can be difficult at times.  We have a wonderful club at SBSC and in recent months we have welcomed many new sailors to our club and while this is fantastic, our sheds are feeling the growing pains just a little.  We are operating at near capacity at the moment so we are mindful that all boats need to be allocated a spot, so they can utilise it reliably each week.

We do urge everyone to be respectful of other families and allocated places, so please refer to the diagrams now posted on the storage racks indicating where each Opti should go at this point in time.  If you cannot find your boat listed, please email Rachel below.  If you notice errors, like name change, change of owner or incorrect sail number, again please make this information known.

If you have 2 rigs in stand-up storage, or your sail is not in use, can you please roll it and store, as not all rigs in use have a spot to stand at this time.

Lasers

To all SBSC Laser Sailors or Future Laser Sailors & Parents
The last TDLA Laser training weekend for the 2016-17 season will be held at SBSC on the weekend of the 1st & 2nd of April. .It is intended that the weekend will cater for all sailor levels but with a focus on newer Laser sailors and those looking to transition from other classes into the Laser for next season. A flyer providing information on the Laser Class and the Tasmanian Association is attached.

Saturday 1st April
Training will be run out of the SBSC with training to commence at 10-00, rigged and ready to sail. The afternoons sessions will incorporate the 2 SBSC pennant races. We understand that some sailors will wish to race the afternoon Pennant in their current dinghy class and this will be catered for with an appropriately reduced training cost for the day.
Sunday 2nd April
Training will be run out of the SBSC with training to commence at 9-00, rigged and ready to sail and concluding at 3-00p.m. Depending on numbers it is hoped that canteen facilities will be available, this will be confirmed closer to the weekend.

The cost for each day will be $65 for existing members or just the TDLA $40 membership fee per day if this is the first weekend of training or for new members.

Please confirm your attendance at either or both days with TDLA training Co-ordinator Chris Males on 0488431221 or email chris.males83@gmail.com
