Prize Night and AGM - Saturday 24th May

Commodore Nick Connor and the Committee has the pleasure of inviting you and your family to the Sandy Bay Sailing Club Prize Night and AGM for the 2013/14 sailing season.

Due to the expected numbers attending this years night of nights, the evening is being held be at the Derwent Sailing Squadron. 

The evening will begin at 5:00pm with the AGM followed immediately by the Prize night dinner at 6:00pm.

Where: Derwent Sailing Squadron, Marieville Esplanade, Sandy Bay 
(Next door to the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania)


When: Saturday 24th May
            5:00pm - AGM
            6:00pm - Prize Dinner

Cost: $15 per person (adults and children)
Includes: choice from 4 hot mains plus ice-cream dessert (including vegetarian option - please indicate if required), salad bar, breads and condiments.

Dress: neat casual

Cadet Worlds Team Quiz Night








Come along and everybody wins … its time to get your tickets to the Quiz Night and you’ll have a fun night out. There are great prizes to be won, a raffle and lucky balloons. You’ll be helping to support our young sailors head off to the Cadet World Championships being held in Weymouth, UK in August.

OPTIMISTS

TIODA Training Session
The last training session for this season will be held at SBSC from Sat 7th – Mon 9th June 2014. Dave O’Connor from Sydney will be flying in for the long weekend to fulfill the role as Head Coach.

Cut off for registration is 5pm Friday 23rd May. TIODA Squad members please register as “Squad Member Registration - $0”. Casual members please register for each day you will be attending. Register on the TIODA website calendar.

North Sails Extreme Optimist Series


Congratulations to our weekly prize winners Lovett for most improved tack during the session and Grace - while doing some on water rig adjustments even when not everything was working out she remained calm and resolved how to do her rig.

Last week due to light winds we were unable to hold any races – the racing will start this week.

Get ready to go Opti sailors – Starting this Saturday, Stewart Gray, and North Sails have kindly sponsored an Extreme Winter Series which will include training and racing, for intermediate and open fleet sailors.

The Saturday dates are 17th, 24th and 31st of May and 14th, 21st and 28th of June and the daily sailing program will look like this;
  • 1.00pm - 1.20pm rigging and changed ready for briefing
  • 1.20pm - 1.30pm briefing on training activities and daily prize criteria
  • 1.30pm - 2.15pm training and skill session
  • 2.15pm - 3.00pm racing
  • 3.00pm - 3.30pm unrig debrief and daily prize 
If you want to increase your performance just turn up on Saturday and join in the fun.

Come and join the Australian Cadet Team as they prepare for the UK World Championship. Along with National Coach Tony Bull, State Coaches will be in attendance.

Come and have some fun in the sun !!!! Learn heaps and receive some really focused coaching
 
Boats may be available for interstate sailors but please book early. If you do not intend to participate in the training, please let Paul know if you would be interested in chartering/lending your boat to interstate visitors.
