  1. RULES

This event will be conducted under the published Sailing Instructions of the Sandy Bay Sailing Club (SBSC) for Season 2016-17 except as altered by Supplementary Sailing Instructions.

The following rules will be changed in the Supplementary Sailing Instructions:-


Rule 26 – Starting Races and Rule 35 – Time Limit and Scores.


Where there is a conflict between rules other than RRS, the sailing instructions shall prevail.




The Regatta is open to all boats of the following classes:

Sabot, Optimist, Laser, Laser Radial, Laser 4.7, RS Aero, Hansa, International 2.4mR, Heron, Mirror, Sabre, International Cadet, International 420, International 470, 29er, 49er, NS14, Sharpie, Moth, B14, Sailboard, Flying 11, and OTB Catamarans.

Other classes will be considered on application to the Organising Authority. Helms and crews shall be members of a Club affiliated with Australian Sailing.

Eligible competitors are competitors who are not under suspension applied by any club affiliated with Australian Sailing. All crew members shall be a current member of an Australian Sailing affiliated Club.

Eligible boats may enter by completing an online entry by 1600 on Thursday 17 November 2016.

Late entries will be accepted with payment of an additional $10 up to 0900 on Saturday 19 November 2016.

  1. FEES

Entry fees are as follows:

Single Handed - $20 (SBSC or DSS Member - $10)

Two Handed - $40 (SBSC or DSS Member - $20)

Three Handed - $60 (SBSC or DSS Member - $30)

There will be no Warning Signal made after 1500 on Sunday 20 November 2016.

Seven (7) races are scheduled, of which three (3) races shall be completed to constitute a series.

Races will be back to back - maximum of four (4) races per day.

There may be a daily lunch break timed to suit the program.




Each boat may be required to produce a valid measurement certificate.



Supplementary Sailing Instructions will be available on the Sandy Bay Sailing Club website from 1000 on Friday 18 November 2016.



Racing will be on the River Derwent near the Sandy Bay Sailing Club.



The courses shall be as described in the Supplementary Sailing Instructions.



Three (3) races are required to be completed to constitute a series. There will be a maximum of seven (7) races.

(a) When fewer than six (6) races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.

(b) When six (6) or more races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.



A boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.



Prizes shall be awarded to the lowest scoring boats in each class if a series is completed on the following basis:

Other prizes will be awarded in all classes at the discretion of the organisers.

The presentation will be held at the SBSC at the end of sailing, not earlier than 45 minutes after the last boat finishes, unless there are any unresolved protests.




All persons taking part in all races, whether as entrants or otherwise, do so at their own risk and responsibility. SBSC is not responsible for the seaworthiness of a boat whose entry is accepted or the sufficiency or adequacy of its equipment. The SBSC reserves the right to refuse or withdraw an entry.

Attention is drawn to RRS Fundamental Rule 4 which states: ‘The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone’.



Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third party liability insurance with a minimum cover of $5,000,000 ($10,000,000 preferred).
