Commodore's Message

Last weekend's PJ Super Series was, by all reports, a great success with many outstanding performances on the water. I'd like to thank the Committee, all Volunteers and in particular Fe Allison for taking on the Commodore's role for the weekend.

Interestingly, there were quite a few protests. Not something we see a lot of during our normal racing, but very worthwhile in terms of learning for all involved especially as we head into nationals regattas in the next month. This Saturday, Rohan Langford will be running a rules and protests session upstairs at 12:00. Rohan will go through the protest process, as well as working through a few scenarios on the whiteboard. If you have any particular queries please bring them along. The session is compulsory (strongly encouraged) for any sailors headed to nationals, and highly recommended for all SBSC members including parents.

This week is the last SBSC Pennant races before Christmas and the final Tillett Selection races. The Tillett Team announcement will take place at the Christmas Function next Saturday (12th Dec).

Sharpie Nationals 31 Dec – 9 Jan

Canteen Volunteers Needed
SBSC will be hosting the Sharpie National Championships from 31st December until 8 January and we require Canteen Volunteers. This is a Sandy Bay Sailing Club run event.  Due to so many members being away we call upon anyone (non-members welcome, especially those with Sharpie contacts) to assist. All proceeds go towards our Club – this event has the potential to raise a great deal of money so if you can spare some hours on any of these dates please call Pip Cooper 0408 661 353 or  The results of your contribution will go straight back to our club for improvements, equipment and programs.

Cleaners Wanted
During the Sharpie Nationals we require one or two cleaners each day, typically from 6pm to clean the club and change rooms. This would suit someone looking for a little extra cash. If you are interested please contact Nick Connor on PH 0417 340 584.
