Commodore's Message

Last weekend was the first week of joint club racing with RYCT's off-the-beach, and it was tremendous to see so many boats out on the river.  I have only heard positive comments from all involved and would like to thank all our volunteers for their hard work.

This week sees only Tackers and Grommets based at SBSC and our racing fleets sailing out of the RYCT for the two day event "Showdown".  For safety and social reasons all competitors are expected to base themselves from the RYCT for the event. Ric has outlined the logistics below. A reminder to all members competing that they must enter by Friday.

Canteen News

There will be a limited canteen service on Saturday. Coffee, snacks, drinks, pies and toasties.
Due to the Audi Showdown regatta this weekend most sailors will be competing and having lunches at the RYCT.
Roster: Meg Groves, Pip Cooper

Midweek Sailing

Thank you to all those participating in midweek coaching – the first week has run smoothly.
I would like to welcome Alex Maclean as the Beach Co-ordinator for the Midweek program – Alex runs the Tackers course at Lindisfarne Sailing Club.

His primary roles are to assure safety on and off the water for our young sailors and help the coaching staff with the daily logistics on training day. Should any parents have any concerns for their child, Alex is very approachable and can discuss issues you may have.

Any rostering concerns or changes you may have/require need to come back through me. To help us with the rostering, if your child cannot attend on a given week, could you please ensure that the coaches are informed with an email or phone call.
Wishing you all friendly training breezes.

Logistics for  transporting boats to and from Showdown

Cadets and Optis get your entries in now.
SBSC recommends that all sailors are based at the Royal Yacht Club for the entire weekend. SBSC will not be open after the completion of Tackers Saturday and closed Sunday.

Getting to RYCT (Fri)
Get your boats to the Royals on Friday night. There will be two rescue craft escorting sailors straight after training. Those not training be ready by 1700 hrs. Trolleys can go by car.

Returning to SBSC (Sun)
Return straight after sailing on Sunday.
For the duration of the regatta, SBSC rescue boats are under the control of the race officer so if any boat needs assistance throughout the weekend they will be towed back to the Royal Yacht Club.
Rohan and Fe will escort sailors.
