ISAF Sail Melbourne 2015

by Tim Edwards

A good number of QLD Opti sailors competed in the International regatta in December as an invited class at St Kilda.  Typical of Melbourne weather, all conditions were experienced over the four days of racing.

The entries numbered over 100 so a qualifying series and finals format was followed with Gold and Silver Fleets.

The highest placed QLD sailor in the Gold Fleet was Aiden Gummow in fifth place overal having finished in the top 3 in a number of qualifying and finals races.  Hamish Thorne was 12th, Ashlegh Swadling 14th overall, Blake Wilson 20th, Zach Edwards 25th and Riley Cameron 39th and Charlie Piacuin 43rd.

Hudson Mckee and Torin Mitchell attended their first major regattas - well done to them both for finishing all races. Adelaid Pullen also finished all her races in the silver fleet.
