Docklands Yacht Club overlooks Victoria Harbour with sweeping views of the Melbourne City skyline and the ever changing Docklands precinct. From January 2016, sailing will take place from the 60 metre pontoon at our new premises - the Community Boating Hub, 912 Collins Street, adacent to the Library at Dock Square. Community Sailing days are normally the second and fourth Sunday of each month year round from 11am but are subject to change (check Calendar page for more details). Everyone is welcome. We supply the boats, lifejackets and instruction.
Awards for DYC
The annual Victorian Sailing Awards have been held at Sandringham Yacht Club.
For the first time, an award has been presented for the Inclusive Club of the Year.
The award was shared between Docklands Yacht Club and Sailability Shepparton. Both clubs run programs using Hansa dinghies which are an inclusive craft that allow people with disabilities to get on the water.
The awards were presented to DYC Rear Commodore Christine Elliot and Sailability Shepparton's President Roy Hill.
DYC Commodore Russell Phillips was also awarded Sailor of the Year with a Disability. This is the third time he has won this award.
The Shepparton sailors are well known to us at Docklands, having competed alongside us at regattas in the last couple of years. They will be the host of the 2018 Hansa Class Championships.
Congratulations to members and volunteers from both Clubs on your win.
