Brisbane City have appointed Tom Laxton as the club’s Technical Director for the 2016 PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland season.

Laxton previously played professionally for English club Leyton Orient and also boasts coaching experience with Leyton Orient, Wycombe Wanderers and Watford FC Academies over the past 10 years.

Laxton replaces Mark Boyd in the role overseeing the club’s PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues programs and engaging the club’s players and coaches in the Junior Academy and Divisional teams.

He will also assist recently announced Senior Men’s Coach John Kosmina in player identification and pathways to the club’s Senior Football Program.

City President David Asnicar said Laxton’s goals at Brisbane City FC mirror the club’s desire to create a Centre of Excellence that will develop young players to the highest standard.

“We are very pleased and privileged to have Tom working with us at Brisbane City Football Club” Asnicar said.

"The Football Committee have completed a thorough process of selecting a Technical Director to work in alignment to the club’s 5 year vision for Football Development across all levels of the club. Tom will start work on our 2016 planning and preparation immediately.”

It is understood a large number of applications for the role were received from across Australia and internationally in recognition of City's increasing public profile and continuing corporate development initiatives.
