The Gap FC Women have secured a perfect regular season after dismantling Gold Coast City Women 10-0 at Walton Bridge Reserve.

The 2016 Premiers dominated the contest from the outset – scoring five goals in each half to take maximum points from their twenty outings in 2016.

Substitute Charlotte Bohl claimed the bulk of the spoils with a second-half hat-trick, while Ruth Blackburn also contributed a brace.

Megan Price, Greta Bodey, Eden Jones, Hayley Riccardi and Bethany Ashton also chimed in as the Gators equaled their biggest win of the season.

Gators will now await the outcome of Monday night’s final match of the regular season to determine whether they face Eastern Suburbs FC Women or Olympic FC Women in next week’s Semi-Final.

The defeat is City’s largest in two years of PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues Women’s competition, ending a campaign that sees last year’s Grand Finalists finish the year in seventh.

What They Said

“I couldn’t be more delighted going into the finals on that performance. It was definitely our best performance of the year and for parts of it, like the first thirty minutes, was our best performance in five years. It was terrific football – the penetration was great and the finish was spot-on.“ – Rob Askew, The Gap FC Women coach

“We fought but, unfortunately, it wasn’t the result we were after. Ten-nil isn’t a great way to end the season but I’m proud of the girls. Onwards and upwards. Hopefully most of the girls come back and retrial.“ – Jamilla Riley, Gold Coast City FC Women captain
