Sunshine Coast FC was unable to withstand Souths United dominance, Harriet Withers struck early for Souths and completed her hat-trick in the first half.

This fixture was hosted by the Fire, as they welcomed Souths to Sunshine Coast Stadium. The hosts were hoping for a better result, defeated in all of their past five matches.

Not long after kick-off, Souths had taken the lead, executing through a Withers strike, and within ten minutes, were enjoying a two-goal lead.

Withers was a stand-out for Souths, along with her teammate Deanna Thompson who was lethal from the corner spot, the pair combined often and sent the Fire into halftime with a four-goal deficit.

The Sunshine Coast were defeated by nine goals in the end, with most chances throughout the match belonging to Souths.

The hosts were without substitutes for this game, Fire’s Christina Byrd was commended for her effort and physicality, working tirelessly for her side the whole 90 minutes.

Souths United are now cemented in the top-four and undefeated in five matches as they begin preparing for their next fixture against SWQ at home. As for the hosts, they’re away next Sunday against Peninsula Power.
