New Moreton Bay United coach Adam Piddick has re-signed two of last season’s key players ahead of Jets’ 2015 PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland season.

French striker Charles Mendy, who scored 22 goals and was named Jets Players’ Player of the Year for 2014, and put pen to paper earlier this month.

Mendy’s signing will see him renew acquaintances with fellow striker Royce Brownlie – the pair delivering an imposing 56 goals between them last season.

Brownlie and Mendy will also be joined by rising midfield talent Matt Capelo, who scored five times in 24 games last season.

Piddick, the younger brother of Palm Beach Premiership winning coach Grae Piddick, explained he was looking forward to renewing his association with Capelo after coaching him as a junior.

“I coached Matt when he was 13 (at Loganholme). I like his technical ability, his work rate is really high, and he suits the way I want to play,” Piddick said.

“He was definitely one of boys I wanted to re-sign.’’

Capelo, 20, said he was looking forward to continuing his development with Jets, where he has spent the past two PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland seasons.

“I’m comfortable at the club, I like the way it is run, I’ve enjoyed previous years here and didn’t want to change,” he said.

“I’m looking forward to next season, the new coach and a new philosophy which I’ve been used to in the past having worked with Adam.”

“Next season I hope to get on score sheet more and hopefully making the finals,” he concluded.

Moreton Bay United are expected to announce further signings this week.
