A Melanie Lloyd brace has seen SWQ Thunder FC to a 3-1 victory over Olympic FC at Goodwin Park on Saturday afternoon.

Opening the scoring early through Louise Rolfe, Thunder looked to put pressure on the home side throughout this mid-table clash.

With chances flowing for both sides, Olympic pulled one back through Teani Karalouka, however, that was as close as they came to a result.

Melanie Lloyd’s two second half strikes securing a deserved victory for the Thunder as they completed a 3-1 away win.

Thunder will turn their attention to next week’s clash with a Western Pride side who will be brimming with confidence on the back of their first win, both sides looking to finish the season off on a positive note. 

 

Key Moments: 

1’ – Chance SWQ Thunder -  Melanie Lloyd with an early shot, hitting the crossbar and rebounding into the field of play.

10’ – Goal SWQ Thunder -  Louise Rolf found herself one on one with the keeping before slotting home around Tamara Cunningham. Score 1-0.

20’ – Chance SWQ Thunder: - 12 Louise Rolf found herself one on one with the goalkeeper before Tamara made a fantastic save.

36’ – Goal Olympic - Scored by  Teani Karalouka. Ashlee Watkins won possession in the corner before dribbling along the goal line and squaring the ball to Karalouka who tapped home through a crowd. Score 1-1

67’ – Chance Olympic - Matalena Daniells sliced in behind the defence, with her shot scraping the outside of the post on the way past.

72’ – Goal SWQ Thunder - Melanie Lloyd defeated the offside trap to get in behind the defence, neatly finishing past Cunningham. Score 2-1

78’ – Chance Olympic -  Zoe Lambi shooting from range with a fantastic effort which was very well saved by Elizabeth Hollitt.

90’ – Goal SWQ Thunder - Melanie Lloyd polishes off the victory with a well worked finish pastthe goalkeeper. Found by an excellent through ball and was able to tuck the ball around Cunningham.
