Strikers Defeat Lightning In Friendly

Brisbane Strikers returned to winning ways in their pre-season preparations with a 4-0 win over Logan Lightning at Cornubia Park on Saturday.

Luke Marsh delivered Strikers a single goal advantage at the half before Jonti Richter, Trent Clulow and Jheison Macuace rounded out the result in the second half.

Marsh’s opened the scoring came just before the half hour before Richter benefitted from Ahern’s header to tap in on 55 minutes.

Ahern added his own name to the scoresheet eleven minutes later, heading in off the post after being picked out by Trent Clulow from a short corner.

Strikers goalkeeper Michael Turnbull delivered a crucial double penalty save with 23 minutes remaining before Macuace rounded out the result by tucking home Michael Angus’ cross - his sixth goal of the pre-season.

Strikers continue their pre-season preparations against University of Queensland FC in the BLK Silver Boot tournament on Tuesday night at Lions FC Stadium.
