Sharks Edge Out UQFC

Palm Beach SC

Words: Michael Flynn

Palm Beach SC continued their pre-season preparations with a 3-2 win over University of Queensland FC on Saturday at Coplicks Sports Park.

Fielding several new signings and ongoing triallists, Sharks netted the opener against their Brisbane Premier League opposition inside the opening half-hour through Rees Duncan.

However, the defending PS4 NPL Queensland Premiers went into the break behind following a pair of quick goals to Mike Pascal and Jack Winter for UQFC late in the half.

Riley Dillon restored parity for Sharks just after the hour before Daniel Grzic secured the win with a penalty in the final minutes.

Sharks will continue their pre-season preparations in the Macron Cup – hosted by Peninsula Power FC – in Redcliffe later this month.

They will open their PS4 NPL Queensland title defence in a Grand Final rematch against Olympic FC on March 7.
