Joy Forsyth struck a brace as Gold Coast City Women saw off Peninsula Power Women 3-2 in a see-sawing showdown at A.J.Kelly Park.

Power twice levelled terms either side of half-time, however were unable to hold on as Forsyth delivered the telling goal in the final quarter hour.

City took a single goal lead into half-time courtesy of Chelsea Teveluwe after Forsyth’s opener was cancelled out by Power’s Michelle Le Roux.

The hosts levelled again through Jessica Eccles prior to the hour before Forsyth’s winner ultimately secured the surfsiders their second win over Power this season.

City’s second straight win firms their hold on sixth place in the standings, while Power’s third straight defeat sees them remain in tenth.

What They Said

“I’m actually disappointed with the result. I thought that’s as hard as the girls have worked all season, so I’m not disappointed in their performance or the way they went about it. I don’t believe we should’ve won the game, but I think we should’ve got a draw for sure. I just hope that effort continues from the girls every week I know we will get a few results before the end of the season.“ – Michael Cook, Pensinula Power FC Women coach

“We had a few players out but the girls who came in stepped up. It wasn’t a pretty game but I think we deserved the result in the end. We need to keep improving and see if we can get some more points before the end of the season.“ – Dave Thompson, Gold Coast City FC Women coach
