Moreton Bay United coach Adam Piddick has altered his training approach as his side continue their push for a maiden PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Premiership title.

Jets line-up against FNQ Heat this Saturday night at Wolter Park in a match with plenty on the line for both sides.

Jets are looking to regain top spot after falling behind Brisbane Strikers in the Premiership race last weekend - a 1-0 defeat to Brisbane Roar Youth at Perry Park ending their four month stint atop the league standings.

Piddick explained that he has made changes at training intended to keep his charges at their best in the final rounds of the regular season, with Jets near certainties to make their first PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Finals Series in September.

“There’s a big carrot at the end for us,” said Piddick, “Not just the Premiership but the Finals Series, the NPL Finals Series if lucky enough to be in there.

“We’ve just tapered things a little bit. Obviously we’re getting to the time of year when the boys have put a lot of effort in and energy has been burned.

“They’re working their backsides off in training and at work. They’re not professionals, so hopefully see the benefits of it in the final games.”

Piddick said Jets were “out-enthused” by Young Roar in their last start, but will be primed to bounce back with Stephen Green and Jackson Hall set to return this weekend.

Jets will face a similarly primed opponent in Heat, currently sitting fifth and seeking a second straight PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Finals Series appearance.

Piddick acknowledged, “FNQ are a good side but we’ll worry about what we do and do things to the best of our ability.”

“If we do, we’ll be tough to beat and the performance will be there. If the performance is there, more times than not, you win football matches,” he concluded.
