Air Force v FCQ Invitational game

Due to circumstance beyond FCQ's control organisers regret that the proposed match between an invitational Air Force team and a FCQ one has been cancelled. Advice received this morning is that members of Air Force have been deployed to assist with the recent floods in South Australia leaving not nearly enough to take part. We are considering a proposal to hold the game in early 2017 and will advise everyone closer to that time.

FCQ is currently negotiating with interested parties to try and hold something this coming Saturday.

Members of the Royal Australian Air Force, in consultation with Defence Force Recruiting (DFR), are conducting a regional tour to Rockhampton to promote Air Force and participation within the wider community. A mixed team consisting of both male and female players will fly to Rockhampton in an Air Force aircraft and play a match against a mixed regional representative team termed a President’s 11 with players invited to participate from teams based in Gladstone, Rockhampton and the Capricorn Coast. DFR will conduct recruiting activities during the visit.
'This will be a great activity for all with Rockhampton the only centre in Queensland to host a team from the Air Force Football Association on its current tour', said Jim Douglas, Media Liaison Officer with Football CQ.
The game will be hosted by Nerimbera Football Club at its home ground Pilbeam Park on 8 October. Main game to kick off at 6pm. A curtain raiser featuring U16 players from this year's Rockhampton junior Grand Final teams will precede the main event at 4pm while gates open at 3pm. A gold coin entry gate fee will be donated to Relationships Australia.
