Adrian Bond, Matthew Sheen and Aaron Bond were all amongst the scorers for Surfside, with Adrian Bond scoring a hattrick and Sheen Scoring a double. Daniel Lavelle was Breakwater’s only scorer on a poor day for the visitors.

The game was marred – and in fact, stopped – following a sickening injury to Surfside player Isaiah Mujica. Everyone involved in the Geelong football community wishes Isaiah a speedy recovery.

Also on the Friday night, Corio travelled to Barwon Heads and came away with a point, drawing 2-2 with the hosts at Village Park. Barwon Heads held a narrow 1-0 lead at half time but in the end were unable to hold their lead and come away from the clash with the three competition points. Dragan Samardzic scored a double for Corio to secure a valuable point for Corio.

On Sunday, at the Lara Recreation Reserve, Drysdale SC didn’t hesitate to ruin the day for Lara United and come home with a 3-1 triumph. Drysdale started off the first half well and raced to a 2-0 lead at the break. Lara came back with a goal in the second half however the visitors proved to be too good on the day and finished with a 3-1 victory.

Wade Lansbury and Lyall Bezett found themselves on the scoresheet for Drysdale with Bezett scoring a double. The name of the goalscorer for Lara was not submitted.

Barwon played host to Surf Coast at Grovedale Reserve on Sunday with defending champions coming away with a solid 2-1 win at their home ground to maintain a winning start to the 2018 league season.

Riley Smith and Beng Kai So both scored for Barwon to seal the three points points. The name of the Surf Coast scorer was not submitted. The Coasters will be disappointed with this result after being defeated 2-1 in both of their opening two games for the season.

To wrap up the round, reigning Grand Finalists Geelong Rangers came away with yet another convincing win to start the season, defeating Deakin Ducks 3-0 at Myers Reserve on Sunday.

Veteran Darren McCallum and Nicolas Hogan both found themselves on the scoresheet for the Rangers, with McCallum netting a double on the day.

The win over the Ducks sees the Rangers jump to equal top spot on the table, following the completion of Round 2. Barwon and Drysdale are also on six points but with a slightly inferior goal difference.
