Star attacker Shannon Daffy was the star of the show netting a valuable hat-trick to take her season’s goalscoring tally to 25, three short of teammate Serena Clapp, who in turn was five goals behind the actual Golden Boot winner, Deakin’s Hannah Gordon.

Despite Gordon not scoring in her team’s final round fixture, the Ducks nonetheless managed to overcome bottom side Geelong with a 3-0 win at Stead Park on Saturday.

Imogen Pratt netted a double to take her season’s tally to 20 goals, while Lena Mungenast scored the other goal for the Duckettes.

Barwon SC defeated the previously fourth placed Kardinia College 3-2 in a final day cliff-hanger at Grovedale Reserve to secure an unlikely play-off spot going into next weekend’s semi finals.

Jane Newberry scored a brace, while Alyse Lyndal Cook also found the back of the net. Down 0-2 at half time, the ‘Students’ pulled one back in the 55th minute through captain Bella Murphy-Bowen before Caelli Wood scored her 20th goal of the season in the 71st minute. Alas it wasn’t enough as the home side ran out narrow 3-2 winners to extend its season.

In the only other game, Barwon Heads defeated Surfside Waves 3-1 at Village Park. The scorers from both teams were not submitted by their respective clubs.
