BELL Park returns to action in Round 7 of the Geelong Region Women’s Division 1 this weekend, when the All Blues take on another first year Division 1 club, the table topping Geelong Rangers, at Myers Reserve on Saturday.

Bell Park will take on near neighbours Rangers fresh from the bye last week. Rangers are currently on 10 points and have a game in hand on second placed Drysdale, while Bell Park is in 3rd spot, but also have a game in hand on Drysdale.

In what is set to develop as the newest rivalry in Geelong Women’s football, if Bell Park can win this weekend’s showdown it would see the Batesford side go to the top of the table.

At Deakin University in Waurn Ponds, Deakin Ducks will host Kardinia College in the battle of the Students.

Currently, the tertiary Ducks sit in 5th spot on the table with 7 points, while the younger secondary students from Kardinia sit last with no points but eager to kickstart their season’s revival. Deakin drew 1-1 with Surf Coast last round, while Kardinia was defeated 0-6 by the high flying Rangers.

In the final game of the round, Surf Coast will visit Grovedale Reserve to take on Barwon SC on Saturday.

Surf Coast currently occupies 6th spot on the table and head into the clash with Barwon on the back of a 1-1 draw with Deakin in Round 6. Barwon, meanwhile, sits in 4th spot on the ladder with eight points and will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing 4-2 defeat at the hands of Drysdale last week.

That leaves Drysdale SC, who will be forced to sit out this weekend with a BYE.
