WBC Spring Roster starts soon - registrations now open

WBC Spring Roster Starting Soon

Now that the Western Basketball Conference (WBC) Summer/Winter roster is almost finished it is time to get organized for the WBC Spring roster!

If you would like to play but don’t have a team yet you can register as an individual player (see below) and we will try to match you with a team looking for players or create a new team where possible.

Brief Details

Who:

Division 1 and 2 in U10, U12, U14, U16 and U18; boys and girls.

When:

Tuesdays after school for Girls, Thursday for Boys

Where:

Kingston, Swisherr, Moonah, Glenorchy. Note: as for the Summer roster games will be played as close to home as possible; games with 2 Kingston teams will play at Kingston; games between a Kingston team and either Hobart or Glenorchy team will usually be played at Swisherr wherever space allows with some occasionally at either Kingston or Moonah.

How Long:

8 rounds beginning Tuesday 20 September and Thursday 22 September; games not played in school holidays or public holidays.

Cost:

$560 per team which will need to be paid when the team registers.

Note:

All teams should be in matching numbered uniforms.

All teams require adult supervision at each game.

Teams should have a minimum of 6 players – we advise 7 to allow for injuries etc

Advice on Team Formation

While Kings Representative players are encouraged to join the Spring Roster, WBC’s first priority is providing good games for players not in Representative teams (Championship or Shield level). The best way to achieve this is for one or two Kings players to form a team with their friends or form a school team if they want to be involved. In particular:

  • Teams with any Rep players should nominate for Div 1
  • Teams with more than 1 Championship level player or more than 3 Rep players in total (Championship or Shield) should consider moving up an age group to get more competitive games.
  • Teams outside these guidelines need to get approval.
  • While you can nominate for Div 1 or Div 2 we reserve the right to move teams between Divisions and age groups before or during the season to ensure as many even games as possible.

This is a short season. There are no finals, so the emphasis is on making the games during the season as even as possible. It is a good chance for everyone to have some fun playing with their friends.

Player Registration

All players need to be registered with Basketball Tasmania – this covers insurance and affiliation fees with Basketball Tasmania. Anyone who has played in the WBC Summer roster or is a Kings player has already paid this registration for the year. When you register to your team you will asked to pay this if needed.

For new players there are 2 options for player registration:

Short term registration:

This will cover you for the Spring Roster (3 months)

$20 for U10 and U12

$35 for U14 and above

Annual Registration:

This will cover you for 365 days from the date of your registration.

$35 for U10 and U12

$60 for U14 and above

This is the best value if you are likely to play next year.

Team Registration

Because this is a short season team game fees ($560) need to be paid up front when registering the team.

Team registrations to the roster are open now, but we recognise that it may take some time to get your players organised and collect money from them so you can pay the team fees on registration.

In the meantime, to help with our organisation, we ask you to register an expression of interest for your team using the link below as soon as possible:

If you don’t quite have 6 players yet but have most of a team you can use the above link. We will try and match you with players looking for a team.

When you formally register your team you will receive a link that your players can use to register to the team. If anyone needs to pay player registration they will be asked to pay it at this stage.

When you are ready to formally register your team you can use the link below (but remember you need to be ready to pay $560):
