2021 KHBA Mini Kings Term 4

Registration is now open for term 4 of our 2021 'Mini Kings' Program. The sessions begin on Thursday  28 October with the final session on Thursday 9 December. The program is targeted at boys and girls in the under 12 age group (6 to 11 years old).

Mini kings is the ideal way for young players to start playing basketball. The program will consist of 45 minutes of skills development and training followed by basketball related games. 

Sessions will start at 3:45pm every Thursday at the Kingborough Sports Centre and will finish up around 5pm.

The program will run from Thursday the 21 October. Cost is $70 per player.

A couple of things about the program for term 4.

Dates

I wondered why several people questioned whether the starting date was 21 October until I finally realised that it was Hobart Show Day! So no, we won’t be starting until Thursday 28 October. The program will still run for 7 weeks, just finishing a week later.

Times

We have too many children to run in one session, so need to split up into two groups. Due to court and coach availability we can’t run the 2 groups at the same time. What we would like to do is to split the groups based on age:

Group 1:              would be for those up to the age of 8 (turning 8 this year). This would run as a traditional Mini Kings with a mixture of basic skills and basketball related games; and run in the normal timeslot (3:45 – 5pm).

Group 2:              would be for those turning 9 this year and above. This is a good age to break the group as these players will be in U12 or U14 age groups next year. The format for this group would be slightly different. It will still have a focus on basic skills but more in a team training format, with basketball games at the end. We hope that this will help them move on to playing in teams next year. This session would run from 5:00 to 6:15 on a Thursday.
