BECOME A SPONSOR OF SHOALHAVEN BASKETBALL
FOR FURTHER DETAILS CONTACT
Shoalhaven Basketball is calling for expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced individuals in several voluntary positions for the association.
Applications are open for Committee Members to the Junior Committee, Waratah League Committee and the Fundraising, Sponsorship and Grants Committee, as well as the roles of Junior and Senior Rep Delegates and the Member Protection and Information Officer (MPIO) role.
Applicants will be reviewed and short-listed by the SBA Board’s review panel. The roles are outlined below, based on the roles undertaken in 2019. Additional tasks or activities may evolve in 2020 for these committees and delegates.
Committee members represent the interests of SBA members in the key competition and support areas. This enables the Board to be adequately informed, whilst being able to delegate tasks to individual committees.
Junior Committee is responsible for the conduct and operation of all junior competitions. Under the leadership of a Chairperson, this committee meets monthly and reports each month to the Board. Ideal candidates will be passionate about supporting the further development of junior domestic competitions and representative activities at SBA. They liaise with the Fundraising, Sponsorship and Grants Committee on matters of fundraising and provide advice on policy matters affecting young people.
Waratah League Committee is responsible for the conduct and operation of all senior representative programs. Under the leadership of a Chairperson, the committee meets monthly and reports each month to the Board. Ideal candidates will be passionate about supporting the development of senior representative basketball for Shoalhaven. Committee members are actively involved in the conduct of games on game day and Waratah League season is particularly busy for this committee.
Fundraising, Sponsorship and Grants Committee is responsible for all SBA fundraising and sponsorship activity and the seeking of grants to support our programs. Working closely with the SBA Financial Director, under the leadership of a Chairperson, the FSG Committee meets monthly (or more frequently when events are occurring) and report monthly to the Board. Ideal candidates will be enthusiastic supporters of SBA, willing to get in and help for all fundraising programs as well as connecting with other members to encourage their involvement. Committee members are responsible for organising rosters for BBQs, running presentation and special awards days, engaging with sponsors and seeking out new sponsors where possible and looking into grant possibilities that SBA may be eligible to apply for.
As part of BNSW’s operation of representative basketball programs, both senior and junior rep programs are required to have a delegate. The delegate is the official that BNSW deal with in regard to the operation of a representative program at the association level. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the operation of rep programs, be good communicators, and good time managers. As BNSW mail directly to delegates in most instances about rep related issues, Delegates need to access their emails regularly to ensure deadlines are met for nominations, clearances and fee payments. This work is done closely with the Stadium Manager.
Member Protection Information Officer (MPIO)
The MPIO role is an important point-of-contact officer for matters related to young people and their safety as it pertains to their participation in basketball. Specialised training to undertake this role is available and the role is well supported by BNSW.
Applications should state which position you are applying for, why you are interested in the position and any experience you have to bring to the position and if you have a current Working With Children Check (WWCC) number.
Applications can be emailed to:
Chairperson, Shoalhaven Basketball Association at firstname.lastname@example.org with EOI and the position/s applied for in the subject line.
Applications close Friday, 30th August 2019.
