Gliders Soar LeGassick Goannas Down

A FLAT Gold Coast Goannas outfit suffered their first home defeat of the season with a disappointing 94-71 loss to Maroochydore in the Queensland Basketball League match yesterday.

Played at The Southport School, the Goannas came in to the match confident after last week's nail-biting win over the South West Metro Pirates.

They also welcomed back impressive big man Jason Aucoin and guard Shaun Tilby.

But it just wasn't the Goannas day and it was obvious from the start with the Clippers skipping out to a 13-point lead at the first change.

They were never headed against a Gold Coast side that shot at just 33 per cent from the field and a deplorable six per cent from the three-point line.

Goannas skipper David Gurney amassed 16 points and seven rebounds while Jaydan Tom tried hard with nine points and 11 rebounds.

Guard Shaun Gleeson had 13 points and Adam Darragh scored 11 points.

The Gold Coast Gliders fared much better with gun Sarah Petrie top scoring with 25 points and 13 rebounds in the 78-74 win over Maroochydore.

Next Sunday the Gold Coast Gliders and LeGassick Goannas will turn PINK for their home game against the Ipswich Force for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

12pm & 2pm tip off and everyone is encouraged to support this great cause and wear their best PINK outfits.
