Clubs and volunteers in a changing & modern world

Sport really is another name for community and it therefore follows that a well led sports club leads to a well led community. In other words, the sport club committee has the responsibility to 'make the choices that create the future for the community it serves'.

A recent article written by Fraser Dyer and published in E-Volunteerism discussed the issues being faced by small member-based churches in England with their volunteers. Much of the content is directly relevant to sports clubs as the same issues exist.

Our modified article builds on some of these ideas with suggestions for club leaders and those supporting clubs to work a little differently and be more capable of achieving the desired impacts in their sport and community.

Building on the themes of above, the Sports Marketing Network December newsletter provides more specific suggestions and ideas for improving leadership in our community sports clubs. How to use digital technology to connect with young volunteers is one of those. Please take time to read all the ideas, try some out and share your success with us.

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
