Gold Coast Netball Carnival

Travel company Worldsport recognised the desire for a youth sporting event and therefore created the Gold Coast Netball Carnival held on the Gold Coast in July.  The Carnival has been running for 21 years with over 70 teams competing annually.  School and Club Teams from overseas and all parts of Australia are welcome to attend and is not marketed as an elite event.  All teams are welcome regardless of their playing ability however the standard of netball is always high.  The week long event also focuses on Spirit and Sportsmanship.

60+ Netball Teams attend from Overseas, New Zealand and Australia

Playing divisions include:

SENIOR DIVISION - Qualification for Senior Division at the Gold Coast Netball Carnival player must be 18 years old or younger on the first day the competition commences.

There is no overall champion at the Carnival - one deserving group each year is presented with the coveted Spirit Award, decided on a vote of all participants: schools, clubs, referees and organisers.  There is also a Barbarian Award presented to one player from each team at the event.

An opportunity to experience a great week of sun, surf, sand and shopping as well as some great Netball against a variety of national and international teams. The fabulous Gold Coast Theme Parks, the annual Beach Games and the Carnival Dinner combining rugby and netball players are always popular.

Format: Teams first play a series of round robin matches and are then re-ranked into pools according to ability.
Once the competition pools have been decided, teams play a number of round robin matches with the winner and runner-up of each pool (or division) receiving trophies.
The competition draw typically has teams playing 3 - 4 games per day (2 x 12min halves, with a 2 minute break)
