South Island Masters Games

The South Island Masters Games is an annual festival of sport hosted year-about between Timaru and Nelson.  It is held in Nelson in odd years and in the even years it is Timaru's turn.  The event runs for nine days and is a chance for athletes at all levels and abilities to compete in 60 different sports including netball.  Most sports have both competitive and social grades with no need to be a top performer or even a current competitor to enter. There are no qualification criteria - athletes do not need to be nominated or to represent a club.  Anyone can enter – as long as they meet the minimum age criteria. Most sports take entries from age 30 or 35 and upwards.  A jam packed entertainment programme also includes nightly entertainment and themed parties making this not only a sports event but a social event.  The South Island Masters Games provide a great opportunity for teams to get end their season with some fun, win medals for your efforts and further cement your team bond. Registrations open around June with an Early Bird discount entry due by 1st July each year.

Preparation for the next 2019 South Island Masters Games held in Nelson are underway.

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
