Hornets Tournaments - New Scorecard Procedure

Hornets wish to advise that from the 2018 Hornets Championships onward, we are implementing a new scorecard procedure.

Attached you will see an example of the new scorecard.

IMPORTANT NOTES FOR TEAM MANAGERS

-          BEFORE GAME: Check the scorecard with the referees, and;

  • Remove any additional players not taking part in that match, by drawing a line through that individual player (Remember, a maximum of 14 players can take part in any one match).
  • Edit any spelling and or playing shirt numbers that require alteration.

-          DURING THE GAME:

  • Keep your own tally of touchdowns (for both teams), including the playing shirt numbers for every touchdown scorer.

-          END OF GAME:

  • Confer with the opposition Team Manager and the referees before signing the scorecard.
  • If score is correct, sign the card where applicable and return to referee.
  • If you do not agree with the final score – DO NOT SIGN the card. Rather, advise the referees as such, and submit a written appeal to tournament control, disputing the score. (Any dispute must include evidence and a copy of your own game tally (including try scorers).

IMPORTANT NOTES FOR REFEREES

-          BEFORE GAME:

  • Check the scorecard with the team managers, and;
    • Remove any additional players not taking part in that match, by drawing a line through that individual player (Remember, a maximum of 14 players can take part in any one match).
    • Allow managers to edit any spelling and or playing shirt numbers that require alteration.
    • Take specific note to players with no playing shirt number. This must be edited by team managers before a game can begin.

-          DURING THE GAME:

  • Tally the touchdown scorers in the “1st Half” column of each team.
  • Only use the “2nd Half” column for touchdowns scored in a drop-off.

-          END OF GAME:

  • Seek a signature in the appropriate area from team managers.

This new scorecard and procedure will ensure a more accurate representation of match results, including the ability for Hornets to keep a touchdown historical record for all participating members.

In addition, this new process will allow Hornets Officials to carry out random member audits, throughout the tournament. Any team fielding an unregistered and/or unfinancial player will be disqualified from that match and be subject to further disciplinary action.

The above procedure is to be used for all Hornets tournaments.
