Peninsula Jnr Touch to Host #CCJC (2018-2020)

Hunter Western Hornets Touch Association, in conjunction with NSW Sport & Event Management, are pleased to announce that Peninsula Junior Touch Association have secured the rights to host the Central Coast Junior Championships (CCJC).

Peninsula Junior Touch will play an integral part in supporting hundreds of junior touch football players from across the state, for the next three years (2018, 2019 and 2020).

After a great deal of interest from various clubs to host the event, the Peninsula Junior Touch proposal was agreed to by the Tender Selection Panel on behalf of the Hunter Western Hornets Touch Association.

Peninsula Junior Touch Association have agreed to work in conjunction with the Hunter Western Hornets Touch Association in hosting the CCJC, effective December 2018.

“The Board of Hornets Touch are extremely delighted to award Peninsula Junior Touch the hosting rights for the immediate future. We were pleased with the level of commitment from the Peninsula Junior Touch Committee in working to support this fantastic event” stated Hornets Touch Tournament Director, Karen Davies.

“We’re just as excited about the prospect of the event securing a new home for 2019 and 2020. It goes without saying that this event has a long history of participation from across the state and were excited about the move to a new facility that provides additional playing fields and a much greater capacity to host more teams than ever before”, Davies said.

Board Member of Peninsula Junior Touch Association, Stacey Jackson, was the driving force in their tender submission and was pleased with the decision.

“We are thrilled that Hornets Touch have agreed to allow Peninsula Junior Touch to host this event”, Jackson said.

“This tournament has a large following of touch football players in the area, and we’re confident that we can help bring a high standard of tournament to our area and ensure a long-term outlook for this tournaments future”.

Adding to the excitement, Hornets Touch have also announced that thanks to popular demand – the tournament will see the introduction of the Under 8’s Boys and Girls divisions.

Divisions will now comprise of Under 8’s, 10’s, 12’s 14’s 16’s and 18’s boys and girls, allowing for much greater touch football representation for all participating clubs.

Further, after the participant survey from last years event, Hornets Touch have decided to open the final series to all participating teams, meaning that restrictions on Sydney based affiliates will no longer apply and all teams entered into the tournament will have the opportunity to contest the finals. This comes after a great deal of support for the change in existing Hornets based club members who competed in the event in 2017.

The CCJC is open to all touch football clubs across the state.

To ensure the tournaments longevity and ability to grow, the CCJC will be played at Adcock Park (West Gosford) for the last time this year, then will move to the brand new Central Coast Regional Sporting Complex in Tuggerah, which provides additional playing fields and a greater area for warm-ups and recreational space.

Hornets Touch will work closely with our tournament partner, NSW Sport and Event Management, to ensure a smooth registration process and adequate support throughout.

The Central Coast Junior Championships will be held on the following dates:

-          Sunday 16 December 2018 - Adcock Park West, GOSFORD.

-          Sunday 15 December 2019 - Central Coast Regional Sports Complex, TUGGERAH.

-          Sunday 13 December 2020 - Central Coast Regional Sports Complex, TUGGERAH.
