A second straight unbeaten round for the Be Active Western Stars has seen Chihiro Kitada nominated as Player of the Week for Round 2 after team mate Amber Merritt earned the honours in Round 1.

The Japanese import recorded a double-double in each of the Stars’ four games, averaging 21.5 points and 15.5 rebounds with 3.8 assists.

On Friday night against the Comets, Kitada shot 11-20 for a game-high 26 points and 17 rebounds while her six offensive boards were two more than the entire Queensland team.

On Saturday against the Cobras, Kitada added 22 points to 12 rebounds and six assists to be involved in more than half of the Stars’ total.

A clash of the top two teams on the ladder was scheduled for later that day but the Stars defied fatigue to easily take care of the Blues, 61-35.

Kitada was just as impressive in the paint, recording 18 points, 16 boards, five assists and two steals while her seven offensive rebounds helped her team to a 14-2 advantage in second chance points.

The import then capped off her spectacular weekend with another 20 points, 17 rebounds, three assists and two steals against the Flames on Sunday.

Leading by just six points at half-time, the Stars blew their competition away in a dominant 24-4 third period and Kitada was the catalyst, scoring nine points including a three-pointer to easily out-score the entire Sydney side.

Kitada now sits second in the league for point production behind team mate Amber Merritt while she leads the competition for rebounds as the Stars have confirmed their status as Championship favourites in 2016.
