Round 7 of the Far West Football Season will be dedicated to White Ribbon with the support of Family Violence Legal Service Aboriginal Corporation (SA).
There are a number of campaigns which focus on ending violence against women. One of those campaigns is White Ribbon. The mission of White Ribbon is to change the attitudes and behaviours that support or excuse violence against women in Australia. It places the onus on men to take the lead role in ending violence against women.
The White Ribbon Round will be held in Round 7 on 17 June 2017. It will involve each of the clubs using white footballs and wearing white arm bands to show that they say ‘No’ to violence against women.
The purpose of holding this event is to create widespread awareness of the positive role that men can play in stopping violence against women. To enable leadership, particularly by men and boys, to bring about social change, and to build collective knowledge and understanding about the effective prevention of violence against women.
