The MAC SA Country Championships will hit the road once again, with the best regional footballers set to go head-to-head in the Riverland next year.
After gracing Port Lincoln and Murray Bridge in the past two seasons, the 2018 MAC SA Country Championships will make Renmark its home for the two-day feast of football.
SANFL Community Football Manager Matt Duldig said he was excited to announce the Riverland region would host the highly anticipated event on July 7 and 8 next year.
”We are delighted to reveal the Riverland as the next destination for the MAC SA Country Championships next year,” Duldig said.
”We’ve been keen to take the MAC SA Country Championships to a variety of regions across the State so it is fantastic Renmark will get its opportunity to showcase the fantastic facilities and tourist attractions available in the area.
”We’re also looking forward to working closely with the Renmark Paringa Council in the lead up to the tournament, they have been extremely supportive in ensuring the Championships come to the region and importantly are a success.”
While Renmark Oval will host the matches across both days, the positive influence on the entire Riverland area would be welcomed by various sectors of the community given the econmic benefit.
“Renmark Paringa Council are proud to be a major sponsor in the MAC SA Country Championships taking place in 2018,” Renmark Paringa Council Mayor Neil Martinson said.
”We look forward to welcoming the players, their families and visitors to our region.”
Renmark Football Club President John Persinos said he was looking forward to showcasing his club’s facilities, including the pristine turf at the home ground of the Renmark Rovers.
“The Renmark Rovers FC are proud to be hosting the MAC SA Country Championships in 2018,” Persinos said.
”It’s an opportunity for the region to see the best SA Country players and enjoy our great facilities we have on offer. Renmark has a lot to offer, and I hope supporters turn up in numbers to support their zones and the inclusion of the Women’s competition this year.”
