Round 15 Preview
The minor round ends this weekend and the business end of the season starts. Last week the Hawks and Roosters continued on their winning pathways, both with big margins, and the Tigers hit high gear avenging the previous loss to the Maggies. The final four is shaped already, so a warm up for finals sides and those missing out will want a big finish.
Wirrulla v Elliston at Wirrulla
Long old road trip that the Roosters have found quite a challenge in terms of personnel numbers and success in the past. Rooster2018 however has his eyes firmly set at a crack at silverware and what better opportunity than a live audition at the venue of the Grand Final and against a challenger that they may well play at some point in finals. The Bombers for their part are harder to follow, at their best can take on all challengers, but hurt by injury and unavailability has seen some lost momentum of late. This is home ground with finals looming, a good showing here is a must!
Mitch Gum, Darryl Dudley, Simon Webb have led the way all year, Simon in front of goals, Mitch and Darryl in the midfield. Ryan Watson must be very due to return, and that will be huge. Jerome Newchurch a great pick up, also the run of Emmanuel Sansbury. The faster game plan works well for Wirrulla when it can be employed, but must be careful of turnovers when players have run forward. Big Will Mayhew takes on the big jobs against key opposition and never lets anyone down. Robbie Marshall, Rowan Chester and Dion Pittaway are ever reliable week in and week out, Taylor Schmucker quite a find this year also. Need a big game by Yanni Kozminski, his marking strength is so important to the side.
Roosters are charging, no doubt they can go far this year, and must continue with their surge. The team is just star studded when at full strength, Liam Newton, Del Miller, Adam Hurrell are prolific in the middle, great targets forward, Glen Tonkin, Tom Rumbleow and Jordan Newton if he plays. Ben Hurrell and Steve Paul are outstanding across half back, defense is quickly turned to attack. Sam Mc Connell very welcome to the side, skilled and dangerous in front of goal. Big Otis Carter gets his hands to the football first so often, and the sheer speed of Joe Burgoyne is breath taking. The Elliston side can run in waves and go on fast scoring sprees that wilt an opposition in fifteen minutes, a rising crimson tide. The side looks well balanced and is great to watch in full flight!
Wirrulla home ground, but hard to go past the form of the Roosters, yes this is a hard road trip but the Rooster2018 has much to play for and should well recognise their opportunity to get quality game time at the Grand Final venue, they very much want to come back here in a few weeks! The Bombers must come to play however, they front in the first semi final next week and need good form going in. There is plenty on offer for them too, just imagine playing a Grand Final at home in their 100 year season!
Roosters 30 – 40
