Hampden Football Netball League (HFNL) interleague coach Jonathan Brown has today announced a forty four man squad for the AFL Victoria Community Championships on Saturday 13th May.
The players, which include representatives from all ten HFNL clubs, will train together under the guidance of Brown before a final team of twenty two, plus emergencies, is selected on Wednesday 10th May.
The squad is one of the strongest the HFNL has assembled in recent memory, with a deep contingent of experienced players.
Former AFL listed players Tim McIntire (Adelaide), Rory Taggert (Melbourne), Daniel Nicholson (Melbourne) and Josh Saunders (St Kilda) will join VFL listed players James Gow (North Ballarat) and Jarrod Korewha (North Ballarat) as key members of the squad with high level football experience.
Jonathan Brown is pleased with the quality of players that have been assembled. “It’s great that so many of the Hampden League’s best players have made themselves available for this interleague match. With the exception of a couple of legitimate injuries, we’ve got the best players in our league to choose our final team from. I’m looking forward now to our first training session on 7th May.” Brown said.
The Hampden Football Netball League play their AFL Community Championship match against the South East Football Netball League on Saturday 13th May at Casey Fields, Cranbourne. The match will start at 1.00pm.
