At this year's GOTAFE Goulburn Valley League’s Annual General Meeting, Chairman David Roff was pleased to announce an operating profit of $4,101.00 for the 2018 season.
“We are mindful of operating in an environment where clubs are subject to ever increasing costs. There needs to be a balance between the League remaining sustainable and keeping club costs to an absolute minimum”, Roff mentioned. “The Board is happy with this year’s financial result as this also included a Club Grant payment of $10,000.00 to the Shepparton Swans to assist them to purchase new netball and football scoreboards. Over the last two seasons, $80,000.00 has been provided to eight clubs for capital works projects worth around $450,000.00 in total. This money has been made available from the sale of the League’s former Dunkirk Avenue premises, and with net assets of just under $300,000.00, the League is in a very strong financial position.”
In other news from the meetings held last night, the Board welcomed a new member in Amy Marshall. Amy has a strong background in volunteering with different clubs and community groups in the local area and experience in strategic planning. “Amy brings a great skill set to the Board and we look forward to working with her,” stated Roff. “I’d also like to sincerely thank outgoing Board member Rhonda Kortum for all of the hard work she has done for the League over the last two years. Rhonda joined the Board at a crucial time, involving the amalgamation of the football and netball Leagues and her contribution to the League cannot be understated.”
The fixture for the 2019 GOTAFE GVL season was also ratified by delegates following the AGM, and will be released to the general public on Monday the 3rd of December.
