Round 12 Mooroopna Golf Club Rising Star
Colby McDonald has enjoyed his transition to the Goulburn Valley League so much that he is likely to extend his stay by another season.
The key forward who crossed from Lancaster to Tatura this season is the latest rising star nominee.
McDonald says he is enjoying his stay at the kennel despite the team losing their past 10 matches.
But it hasn’t been all doom and gloom, as the Bulldogs could have quite easily won at least 4 or 5 of those games.
“It is very frustrating that we haven’t been able to win more games because we’ve come off and wondered what we could have done better,” he said.
He says the biggest influence on adjusting to senior football have been the likes of Jamison Daniels, Tom Miller and Luke McGill.
McDonald says he has enjoyed playing alongside two of the club’s greatest players in Paul Kirby and Linc Wellington.
“It has been a good experience playing with those guys as you just learn so much from them.”
The 18-year-old who has spent time down forward and back says his toughest opponent has been James Flaherty from Rochester.
“He is so good at pushing you under the ball and his overall game is very good.”
McDonald says he has a simple goal for the remainder of the year and that is to grow as a player to get himself ready for 2018.
