Round 12 Match Preview: United V Shepparton
Shepparton will be looking to make it two wins in a season against its arch rival today.
The Bears know United will be up and about after a confidence boosting win over the Swans last weekend.
On the other hand the Bears did enough to get past Seymour.
“We probably had two really good quarters and it wasn’t the best game to watch at times,” Bears coach Brad Campbell said.
Benjamin Davies, Nicholas Allan and Nikolaus Rokahr led the charge for the Bears, while Harry Boyd and the returning Ashley Holland also had good games.
Shepparton will have to do without young gun Luke Smith today. He is representing Victoria in the under 19 match. Smith will be a loss, having kicked 18 goals in his past four matches.
Jack Norman, Harrison Osborn and Matthew Spangher were the stars in the win over the Swans, while Luke Lowden starred with six goals.
Others to contribute to the win were Aaron Britten and Samuel Burls.
Shepparton United will be desperate to turnaround its season having lost its past three matches.
It certainly won’t need any extra motivation when taking on co-tenant Shepparton.
United skipper Kirsty Hommes knows her team needs to step up and recapture its early season form where it won five on the bounce.
On the other hand, the Bears have been outstanding, winning nine straight games.
Shooters Steph Gorrie and Kim Commane have formed a formidable duo in the goals while teenager Grace Egan is playing some consistent netball through the centre of the court.
If the Bears can restrict the influence of Jess Barnes-Hill then they will go a long way to claiming the four points.
