As our teams prepare to attend the Southern Conference of the NSWTA Junior State Cup, we asked our coaches to provide a few words on how their preparations are going
The under 8 boys have been preparing well for the JSC with lots of fun drills at training to help develop their core skills and understanding of the game. The boys are all getting along well and over the next few weeks, we will develop the team bond and look forward to a fun weekend in Wagga.
The quality of players that trialled this year for the under 10 girls was very strong so we decided to take 12 players. Every player has been very committed to attend training.
We only have 2 incumbent players from 2019 and 8 x 8 year olds and 3 new players to rep footy. It has been great to see the development in each players skill level and now combining that as a team is the focus of us coaches.
We are excited to be playing some gala days prior to Wagga Wagga and getting the girls ready. Most importantly we need to work on our post game celebrations which was our highlight last year :)
Good luck to all teams competing in Wagga Wagga.
Our little men are ready to represent this club at their finest, both on and off the field. The parents have done a magnificent job with these boys, their confidence, selflessness and manners etc are all top shelf which only equals their talent. This is a serious little footy team who can give Wagga a major tilt. We are already very proud of these fellas, Go well Boys and we wish the greater Cronulla family a successful tournament. We can’t wait to be with you all in Wagga!
The mighty Sharks 12 Girls are quite a new team for 2020 - a few players from last year, a couple up from the 10s and a great bunch of new girls into the team. We're training well and coming together nicely, with a real focus on teamwork. We've had some solid trial games against the 10 Boys (A) team (who are super fast) and we enjoyed taking our team plays from the training paddock to the game during our first hit outs at the Penrith Gala Day. With such a great group, there's no doubt we'll have plenty of fun and give it our best in Wagga Wagga. Up up Cronulla!
The Sharks 12Boys are a relatively young side this year. We come together with 5 players of age & 9 who are younger. We are a definite mix of state cup experience & rookie's enthusiasm but we all feel that we're ready for all that JSC 2020 will be about. The results this yr all about the learning curve & the coming together of 14boys, most of whom have never played together before. Its about working hard, playing a role with in your team & enjoying the occasion.
Bring on Wagga Wagga, Bring on JSC & get ready because the Sharks are coming....
We are so lucky with the under 14 girls, girls supporting girls is our motto and they definitely have each others back on and off the fields. We got straight back into training after the break with a trial match against a strong/older St George team and my girls got better and better as the game went on. We have lots planned for the next month so we are fit and ready for Wagga I can't wait to watch these girls. We may be little but we have big hearts.
The 14 boys are really looking forward to Junior State Cup in Wagga. The boys are going into this year more confident than ever. We have a strong team this year, all boys are experienced Touch players having played Junior State Cup last year. Hopefully the boys will play as a team and if they play to their potential, will be sure to make an appearance on Sunday’s finals day. Overall the boys have loved the lead up to Junior State Cup and are looking forward to a fun weekend away with their mates playing some touch footy.
