GRAHAME PICKERING RECEIVES LIFE MEMBERSHIP OF MWTA
It is with great pleasure to announce that Grahame Pickering is the 13th person to receive Life Membership of Manly Warringah Touch Association.
At the 41st Annual General Meeting of the Manly Warringah Touch Association held at Dee Why RSL on Tuesday 7th June 2016, a nomination for Life Membership, in accordance with the constitution, was put to the members for Grahame Pickering.
The following list of contributions to the Association were put forward to the members.
Grahame Pickering started playing at Manly Touch in 1975. Has played every season since this date. He was a founding member of the North Manly Mongrels formed in 1977. They won numerous first division competitions and were the most dominate club team throughout the 1980’s and early 1990’s in the men’s A division.
Grahame played at representative level for Manly Warringah Touch Association from Men's Open’s in 1980 all the way to the current Men's 55's division.
Grahame has won a total of 15 State Cup titles.

We believe this number of State Cup titles is a club record for MWTA.
Grahame also represented Region 7 (prior to NTL’s format), Sydney Scorpions, City and NSW.
Grahame Pickering is a level 2 coach and a level 1 selector. Grahame coached at senior local competition level as well as junior local competition from under 9’s to under 17’s. He coached numerous MWTA Junior State Cup teams. He coached senior MWTA State Cup Men's Open teams all the way through to Men's 55's as well as Women’s 35's, 40's & 45's.
Since taking over coaching his MWTA State Cup Senior team that he plays in, Grahame’s team has been in the Grand Final 15 years in a row, winning 9 State Cup titles.
Grahame has coached at NTL Level in Men's Seniors & Women’s 35's & 40's winning numerous titles.
Grahame was the Junior President of MWTA from 2008 to 2010. In this time MWTA significantly increased the number of junior teams. He did this by contacting and visiting all primary schools in Manly Warringah area from Narrabeen bridge to Manly. Many of the MWTA initiatives are still in place today that Grahame developed. Multiple Junior State Cup trials, independent qualified selectors, actively seeking out suitable coaches with the aim of non-parental coaching. It was Grahame Pickering’s work in our Junior ranks during these years that has made MWTA currently the most dominate junior club in the State.
Grahame Pickering has received the NSWTA “Blues award” for Volunteer of the Year.
Grahame is the current Judiciary Chairman of MWTA and has been in this role since 2010.
When the members voted they returned a unanimous vote in favour of Grahame Pickering becoming the 13th Life Member of the Manly Warringah Touch Association.
