Magic push for top four (Round nine men's preview)

The Mandurah Magic will head into week nine men’s State Basketball League action aiming for the top four as the halfway mark of the season fast approaches.

Mandurah sit in fifth position and have won four of their past five games and two wins this weekend could leave them pushing for a top four spot.

The Magic travel to Willetton on Friday night to play the sixth placed Willetton Tigers who will be desperate to put two wins together for the first time this season.

On Saturday night Mandurah host the Goldfields Giants who hit the road with a 5-5 record and in seventh position.

The Giants then play Perry Lakes Hawks on Sunday with new Hawks guard Matthew Rosinski facing his former team for the first time.

Top of the table Lakeside Lightning host the fourth placed Perth Redbacks in a big clash on Friday night with both teams suffering injury concerns to key players.

The Redbacks back that clash up with an equally dangerous challenge when they host the Tigers on Saturday night.

Perth will be celebrating guard Ryan Neills 450th SBL game, Neill will tie with SBL legend Greg Brown in second place on the all-time games list.

Cockburn Cougars will be looking to extend their streak to four games on the trot when they visit the East Perth Eagles on Saturday night.

The Cougars last week added local junior Gavin Field to their strong line-up after the exciting prospect returned from the University of West Georgia last week.

Second placed Wanneroo Wolves will hosts the improving South West Slammers who last week dismantled Perry Lakes in surprising fashion to pick up their third win of the season.

The Rockingham Flames have improved the past couple of weeks and will fancy their chances of extending their lead over the Kalamunda Eastern Suns in the bottom of the table clash.

Geraldton Buccaneers will be looking to bounce back from their home loss last week when they host the Stirling Senators in a crucial clash with both teams sitting just outside of the top eight.
