2019 SPALDING WARATAH LEAGUE MOST VALUABLE PLAYER AWARDS

Basketball NSW is pleased to announce the winners of the Most Valuable Player awards for 2019 Spalding Waratah League.

Championship Men
Kevin White – Manly Warringah Sea Eagles

At the time of posting this article, we were unable to reach Kevin.

Championship Women
Keely Froling – Canberra Nationals

“It’s been a great season for us, especially at home. To go undefeated on our home floor was a goal for us and we’re proud to achieve that. We aren’t done yet though and know the hard stuff really starts now but we feel like we’re prepared and have got our group together and really started playing well at the right end of the season.”

“As for myself I’ve been in and out all season with other commitments but the girls have done a great job while I’ve been away and then it’s been so seamless to slip back into the group as I’d never left. I really enjoy playing with this team and the staff so we have our sights set on winning this championship and I think we have all the tools to do it. Bring on finals!” – Keely Froling, 2019

Division 1 Men
Quayshun Hawkins – Tamworth Thunderbolts

“This season has been really amazing very grateful to meet these guys and coach. This season by far has been the best time I have had on any team the chemistry on and off the court is unmatched and I haven’t been apart of nothing like this.”- Quayshun Hawkins

Division 1 Women
Faatimah Amen-Ra – Dubbo Rams

Playing in the Waratah State League was definitely an amazing building experience that I will use to help me elevate in my future overseas endeavors. Best of luck to all of the teams going into playoffs.”- Faatimah Amen-Ra, 2019

Division 1 Youth Men
Brandon Freire – Illawarra Hawks

“It was an absolute pleasure playing senior basketball for the Hawks. Even though it was an up and down season and it didn’t end exactly the way we might’ve hoped, I enjoyed every minute of it with my teammates and coaches.” – Brandon Freire, 2019

Division 1 Youth Women
Rachael McGinniskin – Newcastle Hunters

“I’m very proud of my team who have stuck together this season, after facing adverse circumstances with having limited players due to injuries. No matter what the results are this finals weekend, I’m honored to have shared such a memorable season with these girls and have thoroughly enjoyed my first season as a Hunter.” – Rachael McGinniskin, 2019

Division 2 Youth Men
Harry Gibbs – Albury

“I’m very grateful to be nominated for a BNSW Waratah player award. The nomination alone is a great self-motivator to continue to develop and grow as a player. Massive thanks to all my teammates and coaches who inspire and support me to play with confidence.” – Harry Gibbs, 2019

We would like to invite all our award recipients to attend this weekend’s finals presentation. An invitation will be sent to each association with details on how to collect your ticket and when you will be presented your award.
