Basketball NSW is pleased to announce the winners of the Defensive Player of the Year awards for 2022 Coles Express NBL1 East & Spalding Waratah League.

The Defensive Player of the Year Award is determined by votes from the Head Coach of each team in these divisions. Voters were not permitted to vote for members of their own team.

We would like to congratulate all the award winners below on a fantastic season. 

NBL1 East Men: James Toohey – Canberra Gunners
NBL1 East Women: Lauren Nicholson – Sutherland Sharks
Waratah Men: Zac McDermott – Canberra Gunners
Waratah Women: Claudia Waihape-Andrews – Canberra Nationals
Waratah 1 Youth Men: Isaac Wooller – Central Coast Crusaders 
Waratah 1 Youth Women: Felicity Henderson – Manly Warringah Sea Eagles
Waratah 2 Youth Men: Jock McHugh – Manly Warringah Sea Eagles

We would like to invite all our award recipients to attend this weekend’s finals presentation. An invitation will be sent to each association with details on how to collect your ticket and when you will be presented your award.
