BRENNAN RE-SIGNS WITH THE FLAMES

The Dennis’ Computers-A.Gabrielli Construction Townsville Flames will have a familiar tone barking the instructions for the 2020 NBL1 season with the re-signing of Head Coach Luke Brennan to his second year in charge of the team. In his rookie season as Head Coach, Brennan fell agonisingly close to the QBL Grand Final with a loss to eventual runners-up the Gold Coast Rollers and will look to go at least one step further in the inaugural NBL1 North season.

“I am thrilled to return as Head Coach of the Dennis’ Computers and Gabrielli Constructions Townsville Flames in 2020. I feel privileged to be able to continue coaching such a wonderful group of athletes”, said Brennan.

“We will look continue to have an exciting group of high quality, Townsville local juniors mixed with experienced QBL/WNBL players in our Flames squad for 2020.”

Brennan is continuing his coaching apprenticeship as Assistant Coach to the JCU Townsville Fire this season and looking forward to continuing on with his work with the Flames in 2019.

“Last season was tremendously fun, both preparing and executing training sessions and games, on the road and on our home court in front of our passionate and loyal fans.”

Brennan didn’t hesitate to take on the role again in 2020 after confirming commitment from Assistant Coaches Annette Winton and Tania Baxter.

“From a Townsville Basketball perspective it was a no brainer to give Luke the opportunity to coach the Flames again in 2020”, said Townsville Basketball General Manager Mark Wrobel.

“He did an outstanding job in 2019 managing a very disrupted roster due to international commitments of players. Townsville Basketball has no doubt that he will again do a great job with the Flames in the 2020 NBL1 North season and we hope that he may be able to break the teams Championship drought.”

Townsville Basketball have already been in discussion with a number of players in putting together the 2020 NBL1 Roster and are hoping to make their first player announcements before the end of the year.
